Heart Fortune Review

Heart Fortune - Robin D. Owens

On the faraway planet Celta, there are some forces you cannot fight…

Jace Bayrum has always been a loner. Concerned more with getting an adrenaline fix and making money to live on his own, Jace cares little for family ties or matters of the heart. On the other hand Glyssa Licorice, Jace’s former fling and true mate, is both loving and loyal. She is determined to track down her HeartMate and have him claim her.

After hearing that Jace has been involved in an accident, Glyssa sets out to find him, departing for the excavation site of the lost starship Lugh’s Spear. Though her goal is to help Jace and finesse him into recognizing her as his mate, the excavation itself draws her in…

Thrust by fate into working side-by-side, Jace and Glyssa’s electric connection from years before sparks once more. She intrigues him, and Jace begins to realize that a HeartMate can make a difference. And one as magnetic as Glyssa could be exactly what he has been searching for…

Review

I am always so very happy to return to Celta. This love story between Jace and Glyssa is a fun coming home to one of my most beloved series. We have cool new fams, psi powers, and creative flairs.

The romance in the book is real and touching. The action adventure and who done it is clever. We get to see old friends. This is a very nice addition to the series.

Owens' books are a bit tricky because the lead characters are not always likable at first. She embeds the reader deep into their interior and from this point of view we see clearly the flaws, shortcomings, and secret unpretty thoughts we all have. This kind of characterization is at work in this book.

Jace and Glyssa both need to grow and change. And they do. They always do in an Owens book. In the end, we feel tender about the vulnerable raw person they were and proud and happy of who they have become. This makes for great romance reading that we can reread again and again knowling how well everything will turn out.

My only real quibble with this book is that I don't really like the way some former couples were portrayed. They didn't always ring true for me to how I would expect them to behave and be.

I highly recommend this book if you are fan of the Celta series and if you are not I urge you to glut yourself starting with Heart Mate.
